Cancer is the second most death causing factor in the world. All of us know that our body is made up of cells which combines together to form tissues. Usually new cells are made in a definite pattern and order, if a cell dies a new cell is made as a replacement so that the basic tissue structure is maintained but in case of cancer the cells are made in no definite pattern and order. The number of cells made are more as compared to the number of cells died. This uncontrolled cell division forms tumour, and we call it a cancer. 

There are approximately more than 100 types of cancers, the most common types of cancers affecting female population are mentioned below. 

  • Breast cancer 
  • Lung cancer 
  • Skin cancer 
  • Uterine cancer 

Breast cancer 

Breast cancer is a condition in which a lump is felt in any one or both of the breast. The unordered cell growth in the breast can alter the shape and size of the affected breast. It can be life-threatening if not detected in early stage. 

Symptoms of breast cancer 

Breast cancer comes with multiple symptoms some of them are mentioned below. 

  • A lump in the breast. 
  • Discharge from the nipple without squeezing. 
  • Change in shape and size of the breast. 
  • Swelling in armpits 

Prevention from breast cancer. 

  • Avoid alcohol and smoking. 
  • Drink plenty of water on regular basis. 
  • Best treatment for breast cancer starts with an early detection of the tumour. 
  • Regular screening if your age is above 50 and have a family history of breast cancer. 
  • Always maintain a healthy weight 

Lung Cancer 

Lung cancer is among the most death causing diseases across the globe. A higher population of those diagnosed with lung cancer have a history of smoking tobacco or a long-time exposure to indirect smoke. Smoking is not the only risk factor of lung cancer even those who does not have a history of smoking can get it. 

Symptoms of lung cancer. 

  • A persistent cough. 
  • Breathlessness. 
  • Bleeding while coughing. 
  • Weight loss. 
  • Loss of appetite. 
  • Pain in chest. 

Prevention of lung cancer. 

  • If any of the above-mentioned symptoms appear one must go through a proper screening. 
  • Earlier the cancer is detected better the treatment is offered. 
  • Quitting smoking can help in prevention. 
  • Even indirect smoke should be avoided. 

Skin Cancer 

The major cause of skin cancer is exposure to ultraviolet radiations for a longer duration. There are many types of skin cancers, three mains of them are melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma. 

Symptoms of skin cancer. 

  • A new lump on the skin. 
  • A sore that takes longer to heal (more than few weeks). 
  • An unusual spot on the skin. 

Prevention from skin cancer. 

  • Avoid going out in sun if not necessary. 
  • Wear full sleeve clothes. 
  • Wear sunglasses if going out. 
  • Use umbrella if going out.  

Uterine cancer 

Women above age of 50 are more likely to get uterine cancer. If an individual is overweight and has a history of poor diet, then she can have a higher chance of encountering with uterine cancer. 

Symptoms of uterine cancer. 

  • Vaginal bleeding which is unusual 
  • Bleeding after menopause 
  • Watery discharge 
  • Heavy periods which are irregular 

Prevention of Uterine cancer. 

  • One should maintain a healthy weight. 
  • Being physically active. 
  • Having proper diet. 

Treatments of all types of cancers. 

Treatment completely depends on the severity of the cancer. If the cancer is detected in early stage, then it can be easily managed but in case if it is detected in end stage then the treatment becomes more complex. Many treatment procedures like chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery are available.
